Welcome to Arcadia



intro.
My first attempt at a BACC went badly and, maybe as luck would have it, I lost the neighborhood. Eventually I created my well beloved Starryfay, but I'd be lying if I wasn't into a challenge and something new. While I have no plans to ever abandon Starryfay, I wanted to try another neighborhood to keep things from going stale, so here we are with Arcadia! Additionally, I've wanted to keep things organized and have a sims lj again, so pictures will be compiled from tumblr and posted here on lj as well! I'm letting it be known now: BACCs are a challenge for me, so getting this off the ground is probably going to be messy, but please bear with my poor founders. We'll be trying the best we can and additionally trying to learn all the things about this game that we yet don't know!

I'm not sure if I'll ever get around to writing up my rules but I'm taking from a number of sources, primarily darkestdawn73's ruleset, and sort of tinkering as I go, so this will largely be a work in progress in the beginning. I want the challenge of a bacc but I don't want it to be so much so that I find it daunting, so you'll find that as I go into this, water and electricity will already be unlocked, loans will be allowed, and money matters will be taken care of loosely. Families will be taxed weekly for civic buildings and eventual universities. 1 burglary will unlock the police, 3 fires will unlock firefighters. No deliveries, services, or nannies will be allowed in the beginning, meaning sims will also need to own a grocery store and rely on each other for most services. In order to begin utilising loans, a bank will need to be built. Loans are allowed for building community lots, but sims must befriend the architect before building one, in addition to all the other requirements! For every 3 player owned lots, one unowned lot will be unlocked for purposes of parks and the likes. All families will be played for the length of 1 season to keep aging in sync, yadda yadda. I'll come back to this as I figure out better what I'm doing!

Eventually I would like to implement some ROS, if only because I am a very controlling player and I think it might do some good to loosen the reigns and let a little bit of random occurrences untether me from my comfort zone!

Confession: I'm the worst and never remember who I downloaded sims from! I don't download from very many, so hopefully I can figure out whose I have, but if I feature a sim made by someone else and you know whose it is, please let me know! For now, though, all the founding sims of Arcadia were created by me in bodyshop, with the exception of the St. Claire kids, who I yoinked from a mostly unposted legacy and brought to Arcadia because I really needed another family - and I'm really attached whoops.

I'm taking inspiration from a LOT of games I follow and I hope I'll be able to come up with something challenging that I can enjoy and you guys will enjoy following! I seldom play with businesses so a. we're going to see a lot of failure lmao and b. it'll be fun to challenge myself and spice up my play a lot! In all the years that I've played TS2 I've been such a creature of habit that there's just so many things I don't know about/how to utilize, so I aim to really challenge myself in these areas once I get everything off the ground.
